    welcome to our recovery community

Interesting thread. Two sides to the powerlessness and choice questions are well argued here. Admitting I am an alcoholic time. I do have control over alcohol I thought. I don’t have the cravings or the self-destructiveness or the depression many speak of. But I learned while trying to be a moderate social drinker, I do not have the power to limit my drinking to a reasonable amount when I drink. I do not have the power to choose not to drink when I have decided not to drink. So, I do know I do not have the power I thought I had, and I cannot manage to recover from alcoholism on my own. I need the steps described in the Big Book and the help of my fellow alcoholics to recover…and I hope I can help them in return. Welcome to the Class of May 2011, Tewablue. Let’s hope this is a date we will remember for the rest of our lives. :welcome
