Hi, I’m not trying to stop Ecstasy – just yet.

I started weed when I was 17, and I started getting into other drugs soon after.
I just got so far as Meth, then I shipped out to boot camp. I sobered up completely as it acted as a rehab.
I finished boot camp, infantry school, and am finally in the fleet.

I just recently starting rolling again, and it’s quickly turned into other drugs after I found out some other Marines still roll.
It’s fun as hell, but I have started noticing the people I used to get ****** up with have stopped.
I know there is sometime I’ll have to stop drugs, but I don’t even know where to start.

I guess my question is: What is there to do besides drugs?
Fishing, bowling, that stuff just isn’t really fun comparably.
What did y’all try to do whilst stopping drugs?

I’m 19, and I need some friendly advice.

    Hello Shawnino,

Welcome to 12 Step National Meetings. This is the Narcotics Anonymous Step 1 forum, and here we discuss the NA 1st step, “We admitted we were powerless over our addiction and our lives had become unmanageable.”

Here we share experience, strength and hope…advice isn’t what it’s all about. You see, an addict can be beaten, prayed over, threatened, reasoned with, counseled or locked up…but they won’t stop using until they are ready. And since you’ve stated that you’re not trying to stop, I’m willing to bet that what we have to offer you will not be what you want.

Yet…to answer your questions: What is there to do besides drugs? The answer is simple – LIVE and experience life without a crutch. LIVE and accept ourselves as ourselves without the drug-induced mask created to hide our insecurities, low self-esteem or fear. LIVE and develop coping skills instead of running from our feelings.

What did we do while stopping drugs? NA meetings, step work, service….ya know…recovery stuff.

    Whenever you’re ready…

Clean since 1998 and lovin’ it! 🙂
