    Hi Tava-

I go to AA and your story is not unique. Many alcoholics have similar stories just like yours.

I’m saying this so you understand that yes, by reading your post above, you certainly qualify for alcoholism.

Only you can make the final call and decide for yourself. That’s usually a good place to start.

You ask about any tips. Yes, read on here and see if there are any similarities. Also, go to a few AA meetings and see if you can identify with what’s being said from people who know how to recover from alcoholism. Listen to their stories and see if you can relate.

Let me know what I can do to help.

You remind me of a guy who once said he was allergic to alcohol. Every time he drank he broke out in handcuffs.

If you’ve been attending AA, then you’ve heard Step 1: “We admitted we were powerless over alcohol and our lives had Become unmanageable”. From what you say here, I suspect that you meet those qualifications. I suggest you stick around AA for awhile. You’ll be able to answer the question of whether or not you’re an alcoholic if you listen to what others have to say.

As to the stuff about the subconscious reinforcing behavior? Dunno anything about that.
