I am powerless over alcohol. Had I hit bottom. Not sure but I got to a point that I knew that I can’t be a controled drinker.

How do I know that I am powerless over alcohol?
-Page 31 of the Big Book at the bottom…Step over to the nearest barroom and try some controlled drinking.
-Page 31 at the top…As we look back, we feel we have gone on drinking many years beyond the point where we could quit on our own will power. If anyone questions whether he has entered this danger area let him try leaving liquor alone for one year. period.

Those two things let me know I’m powerless over alcohol. Why? Because I am terrified to try ethier one of those things. I know I would not be able to succeed at either one of those challenges.

I thought I understood what the 1st step was. But when I read those two passages and let them sinkk in, I did not really have a true understanding. I may still not but I’m well on my way to working the 1st step.

My name is Mike, and I am powerless over alcohol.

    Big Book quotes.1st Edition
