:e025:I just joined this site today to reach out for help from friends who have been there or who are struggling with the same thing I am. I am new to sobriety but not new to working on it. I went to my first meeting about a month ago with a wonderful friend in recovery and I have been working on sobriety since. My sobriety date is Feb 20th, 2011. I am a believer in step 1. I am powerless over alcohol and if I may not believe my life is completely unmanageable, it was surely on that track. I have a big book and I am reading it. I began this journey by saying I owe it to my 17 month old daughter to stop drinking and that is true but the more I think about it, I think first and foremost I owe it to myself. I am sober today and thank God that I am.

Welcome to 12 Step National Meetings! Glad you are here. I do hope you find the encouragement, strength, experience, and hope I have found here. :welcome

Good for you it sounds as if you are on the right track. I never sobered up when my children were small and continued to drink with a grandson now in my life. I cheated all of them of many things.
