My name is Natalie and I am an alcoholic – I admit I AM powerless over alcohol and my life has become unmanageable.

Unmanageable doesn’t even scratch the surface!

I am elated that I can say that out loud no matter who stands before me. My first step in killing the beast that is killing me.

    Welcome, Nat!

For me, Step One was a huge relief. It got out there in the open what I was secretly afraid of. And the AMAZING part of it is that the admission itself has such power. It gives us that little bit of freedom and hope we need to start moving forward. We don’t need to struggle anymore. Our struggling and fighting isn’t gonna fix us, or our problems. There’s gotta be a better way, some Power…

I don’t think you can slay that beast. Instead, it is about admitting that you cannot step into that arena with that beast. If we do, then we will get our ass kicked and there are only so many ass kickings that we can handle before we get slayed.

It’s a battle that we cannot win. So, it is best that we not even fight it.

Most excellent. I am glad that you have found a new freedom and confidence. There is definitely a certain relief that comes from taking that First Step. It is a breathe of fresh air.
