I know I’m an alcoholic but I have a hard time admitting it. Anyone else? I hate myself for the times I have gotten drunk and love the sober me. Why is this so hard?

    Hi, Dagen, and welcome!

It’s hard to admit, because our egos tell us that if only we tried harder, we could control our drinking. That isn’t true for alcoholics. We can’t help drinking. Fortunately AA offers a solution that enables us to live sober.

Do you feel that you drink even when you don’t want to? When you do drink, can you reliably quit when you wanted to?

The second part of the First Step is recognizing that our lives have become unmanageable. I felt like I was going to pieces, inside, when I finally decided to stop drinking. My life didn’t look all that unmanageable from the outside, but I was a mess inside, and I knew it was only a matter of time before something pretty awful happened.

    Welcome Dagen !!

Stick around, keep posting… it’s easier when you don’t do this thing alone.
