Early in my career as an interventionist I realized two things. First, that my 25 years as an addict was not “time wasted,” since as an ex-addict I have unique insight into the workings of the mind of the addicts I am hired to help, and second, information currently circulating on the subject of addiction intervention, much of it considered “standard practice,” is just plain wrong, at it’s worst literally causing interventions to fail. This article outlines some ideas of I believe to have great merit, and some that merit avoiding. I hope it broadens your viewpoint on what an intervention can be, and gives you hope for real success if you are organizing one. My details are at the bottom of the page. I welcome questions and never “hard sell,” so feel free to communicate with me via phone or email, anytime on any aspect of interventions, from basics to handling unusual circumstances. My website provides a special form for submitting a question anonymously as well, located on the Contact page.https://national12stepmeetings.com
