The Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an innovative approach to healing that is gaining attention from medical professionals and laypersons all over the world. EFT can be applied to any emotional and physical issues you can name and often gets results when nothing else works. The basics of EFT can be learned by anyone and can be self-applied (usually in minutes).
The success of EFT lies in the balancing of the body’s subtle energies that flow through the body, in much the same way as blood flows through veins. This balancing is done with an elegant sort of emotional acupuncture. Instead of using needles, specific points on the body are stimulated by tapping with the fingertips.
As you are tapping, you say a reminder phrase that helps you to stay focused on the specific issue or feeling that you are looking to treat. The default phrase is “Even though I have this …… (name the problem), I completely love and accept myself”. Advanced EFT practitioners will vary this phrasing considerably to approach problems in a variety of ways.
For beginners of EFT, sometime finding the right words is a stumbling block to getting started. However, sometimes you can’t put words around the feeling. For example, you come home from a long day at work and just feel tired and run down. In this case, do a couple of rounds of tapping (3-5 rounds, or more) tapping 5-7 times on each tapping point without saying any words and just allow your system to unload whatever disruptions are there. I call this Anonymous Tapping.
I also find that Anonymous Tapping is very beneficial just before going to bed. Again, it helps release all the tension built up over the day and improve the quality of your sleep.
Remember, saying something specific to focus on an an issue will always be more effective. Only use anonymous tapping to settle yourself down in general.
