Pills Anonymous (PA) is a 12-step program designed for individuals struggling with prescription drug addiction. PA is based on the same principles as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA), but with a focus on prescription pill addiction. The program is designed to provide support, guidance, and a sense of community to those who are struggling with addiction to prescription pills.

History of Pills Anonymous:

Pills Anonymous was founded in 1979 in California by a group of individuals who were struggling with addiction to prescription pills. These individuals found that there were few resources available to them at the time, and they decided to create a program that was specifically designed for those struggling with prescription pill addiction. Today, Pills Anonymous has meetings all over the world, and the program has helped thousands of individuals recover from prescription pill addiction.

The 12 Steps of Pills Anonymous:

The 12 steps of Pills Anonymous are based on the same principles as the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. The steps are designed to help individuals recover from addiction to prescription pills by providing guidance, support, and a sense of community. The 12 steps of Pills Anonymous are:

We admitted we were powerless over prescription pills—that our lives had become unmanageable.

Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to prescription pill addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

How Pills Anonymous Works:

Pills Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who are working to overcome addiction to prescription pills. The program is designed to provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment where individuals can share their experiences, strength, and hope with one another. Meetings are held regularly, and members are encouraged to attend as often as possible.

In addition to meetings, Pills Anonymous also encourages its members to work with a sponsor. A sponsor is an experienced member of the program who can provide guidance and support to those who are new to recovery. Sponsors are available to answer questions, offer advice, and provide encouragement to those who are struggling.

Pills Anonymous also offers literature and resources that are designed to help individuals in their recovery. The program’s literature includes books, pamphlets, and other materials that provide guidance and support for those who are struggling with prescription pill addiction.

Benefits of Pills Anonymous:

There are many benefits to participating in Pills Anonymous. One of the main benefits is the sense of community that the program provides. For many individuals, addiction can be a very isolating experience. Pills Anonymous provides a supportive and non-judgmental environment where individuals can connect with others who are going through similar experiences.
